It is widely accepted that a regular process of reviewing the ‘significant events' occurring in an organisation can be extremely beneficial, and the new GMS Contact recognises – and rewards – the need for this in General Practice. This module facilitates the recording and management of patient complaints, clinical and administrative events (including Health and Safety events) by all Practice members. Reports are then generated that can be used for Significant Event Meetings and for inclusion in Partners' Appraisal files. The facility is also provided to link a Significant Event to an item in the Risk Management module, so that where appropriate an event can be followed up through the risk management process.
